Well now, lemme tell ya ’bout this basketball game between Loyola Chicago and Bradley, somethin’ you wouldn’t believe. It was a right good showdown, but it wasn’t much of a match, if you ask me. Bradley, them boys, they just took charge from the start. I reckon they was feelin’ mighty strong, ’cause they came outta the gate like a bull, jumpin’ to a 10-0 lead over Loyola. Gave ’em no chance to even catch their breath. Ya could tell from the first few minutes that it weren’t lookin’ too good for Loyola. And sure enough, Bradley went into halftime with a big ol’ lead, 36-19. Now, that’s a right tough spot to be in, ain’t it?
The second half didn’t do much to change the story neither. Bradley, well, they didn’t slow down none. They kept pressin’ and pressin’, and before you knew it, the game was over, with Bradley winnin’ 74-62. Now, ya might be thinkin’, “Who was the star of this show?” Well, that’d be Duke Deen. He dropped 18 points for Bradley, and boy, he was a big part of why they got the win. The crowd was cheerin’, and them Bradley folks had a lot to be happy about.
But I’ll tell ya, this game wasn’t just about the score. It’s about how them teams been doin’ lately. Loyola’s had a pretty decent season, all things considered. They had a 22-9 record, and they’ve been puttin’ up a good fight all year long. But Bradley, they came into the game with a 22-11 record, and they wasn’t about to let Loyola have the upper hand, no sir.
Now, in case you didn’t know, both these teams have been playin’ in the National Invitation Tournament, or NIT for short. It’s a big deal, somethin’ they all wanna win. And, as I said, this game was in the first round of that tournament. Bradley just made sure to take care of business right quick. Ain’t no need for no extra drama when you’ve already got the game in hand.
The game was held at Carver Arena in Peoria, Illinois, and I gotta say, that place was packed. Lots of folks showed up to watch, and I reckon they wasn’t disappointed. But Loyola, well, they had to take a long ride back home after that loss, and I imagine they weren’t too pleased with the outcome.
Bradley’s performance was somethin’ to be proud of, and they certainly didn’t disappoint their fans. Now, lookin’ ahead, Bradley’s got their eyes on bigger things. This here win is just the start. And as for Loyola, they’ll have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what went wrong. It’s a tough world, especially when you’re up against a team like Bradley.
But, hey, that’s the game of basketball for ya. One minute you’re on top, the next minute, you’re down. Ain’t no guarantees in this sport. But Bradley, well, they sure gave Loyola a run for their money. I’ll say that much.
And if you missed the game, don’t worry none. You can always catch the highlights online, and I reckon you’ll get a good feel for how it all went down. But, trust me, it was a sight to see. Bradley kept ‘em in check, and they came out on top. Ain’t no doubt about that.
So, let’s keep our eyes on these teams and see how they do in the next round of the tournament. But for now, it’s Bradley 74, Loyola 62. And I reckon that score’s gonna stick in the books for a while!
