Alright, let’s talk about this Alex Yi fella and his scorin’, or whatever you call it. I ain’t no fancy sports person, ya know? Just a regular person tryin’ to make sense of all this stuff.
So, they say this Alex Yi, he plays for FC Dallas, right? FC Dallas, sounds like a bunch of cowboys kickin’ a ball, if you ask me. He’s a defender, which means he’s supposed to stop the other team from scorin’, not do the scorin’ himself, I reckon. But they got all these numbers and stats, talkin’ about his goals and assists and all that jazz.
Now, I don’t know much about soccer, but I know a thing or two about workin’ hard. And this fella, he’s been playin’ for a long time, they say he’s 42 years old! Born in 1982, that’s a long time ago, Lordy! He’s from Alexandria, wherever that is. Sounds fancy, huh? Maybe they got better doctors there, keepin’ him runnin’ around like a young chicken.
- They list him as 6′ 3″ and 201 pounds. That’s a big fella! He could probably haul hay all day long, that’s for sure.
- And they keep track of everything! Goals, assists, how tall he is, how much he weighs. It’s like they’re weighin’ him at the market before sellin’ him off! They got stats for everything, even when he played for the national team. They call it “national team career,” sounds important, I guess.
They got these things called “detailed stats,” and they can filter ’em by all sorts of things. Period, club, league… It’s enough to make your head spin! I just wanna know if he’s good or not, simple as that. Can he kick the ball good? Can he stop the other fellas from kickin’ the ball too good? That’s all that matters, right?
And they talk about his “match logs.” What in the world is a match log? Sounds like somethin’ you put in the fireplace to keep warm! But I guess it’s a record of all the games he played. And they got his “height and weight,” like I said before, and more. It’s like they’re inspectin’ a prize-winning pig at the county fair!
ESPN, they got his profile too. They always talkin’ about sports on that channel. I sometimes watch it when the soaps ain’t on. They say he’s a defender for FC Dallas, like I already told ya. They got the latest news about him, whatever that might be. Probably talkin’ about how he kicked the ball or somethin’.
They even got somethin’ called “Karriereende player.” What in tarnation is that? Sounds like somethin’ German. Maybe it means he’s done playin’? Retired, like my old man after he hurt his back workin’ in the fields. If he’s 42, maybe it’s time to hang up those cleats, or whatever they call ‘em.
And then there’s the MLS, the Major League Soccer. They got rosters for all the clubs, and player stats too. Rosters? Sounds like a list of chickens you got in the coop! But I guess it’s a list of players. And they got all the numbers for each one. It’s like they’re counting beans, tryin’ to figure out who’s got the most.
So, this Alex Yi, he’s been around, playin’ soccer for a good long while. He’s big, he’s strong, and he’s from Alexandria. And he’s got more stats than a farmer’s got chickens. But can he score? Well, that’s what they’re tryin’ to figure out, I guess. Me? I just hope he’s havin’ fun out there. Life’s too short to be runnin’ around kickin’ a ball if you ain’t enjoyin’ it, that’s what I always say.
Anyways, that’s all I got to say about this Alex Yi and his scorin’ or whatever they call it. It’s a lot of fuss for a game, if you ask me, but folks seem to like it, so good for them. And good for this Alex fella, too, for keepin’ at it all these years. That’s some dedication, I tell you what.
