Now, you see, not a lot of folks around here know much about Ball State, but I tell ya, them boys from Muncie sure got some grit in ’em! Ball State, they got a little football team, the Cardinals, and let me tell ya, they’ve sent a fair number of players off to the big leagues, the NFL. Ain’t no small feat for a school that ain’t exactly got the same kind of spotlight like them big-name schools. But still, Ball State’s football boys have been making waves for years.
When you look at the history, you’ll see them boys have done real good. Over the years, 40 of ’em have made it to the pros, and 30 of those got drafted. That’s a whole lotta players, especially when you consider how many schools out there tryin’ to get their players to the NFL. And don’t let me forget Timmy Brown, now he’s the one with the most career value for the team, sittin’ at 66 AV (that’s like their overall contribution to the game, or somethin’ like that). I ain’t no expert, but that’s impressive for a little school like Ball State!
If you’re lookin’ for names that’ve made it big, you won’t be disappointed. I reckon one of the more recent folks who made it to the NFL was Nic Jones, drafted just a couple of years ago in 2023. Then you got Danny Pinter, drafted in 2020, and Keith Wenning, a name some of the folks around here still talk about from way back in 2014. All these boys, they left Muncie and went on to make somethin’ of themselves in that big ol’ league. And the list don’t stop there, no sir. There’s plenty more names who came from that school, and I’ll bet you can find ’em if you go diggin’!
Now, I ain’t gonna lie to ya, Ball State’s football program ain’t exactly got the same kind of tradition as them schools like Alabama or Ohio State. But they sure got their share of tough fellas. And even though Indiana’s a basketball state, them Cardinals have managed to show they got what it takes to play some football too.
And it’s not just about getting drafted either. Some of them fellas make it onto teams, not always starting right away, but they make their mark one way or another. Take Loren Strickland, for instance. I heard he just got himself an NFL opportunity. He didn’t get drafted, but he sure earned himself a shot. Just goes to show, sometimes it ain’t about how you start, but how you keep pushin’ forward.
Ball State might not be the first name you think of when talkin’ football, but let me tell ya, they’re slowly building up a nice little legacy. The Cardinals have had 18 players drafted over the years, and that’s somethin’ to be proud of. Not too shabby for a school that gets overshadowed by all them other big programs. But I reckon that’s how it goes sometimes—you don’t need all the fancy stuff, just a little heart and a whole lotta determination.
And I tell ya, the folks who come outta that place sure got a lotta heart. You take one look at the players they send to the NFL, and you can see how hard they worked to get there. That’s the spirit of Ball State football right there. Hard work, grit, and determination. Ain’t nothin’ fancy about it, but it gets the job done.
So, if you’re ever wonderin’ about Ball State and their football team, don’t let nobody tell ya they ain’t got what it takes. These boys are out here representin’, making the whole town proud. And who knows, the next big name in the NFL just might come from Muncie too!
