Well, there’s a few ways to get that ball in there. You can kick it with your foot, that’s the most common way. Some fellas are real good at it, they can kick it hard and far. They call that a “field goal” sometimes, when they kick it from the ground. Or sometimes, they kick it after they catch the ball in the air, that’s the other kick… drop-something… I don’t remember.
And sometimes, you can hit it with your head! Can ya believe it? Heads are hard, I guess. They call that a “header”. Those city boys sure come up with fancy names, don’t they?

Now, some goals are worth more than others. I don’t rightly understand why, but that’s how it is. Sometimes a goal is worth one point, sometimes it’s worth more. It all depends on how and when ya score it. They say something about four goals is a “haul” or “poker”, and five goals is “haul” or “glut”. Sounds like somethin’ you do with fish, not football, but what do I know?
Keepin’ Track of Goals
These days, they got all sorts of fancy ways to keep track of goals. They got websites and apps that tell ya everything – how many shots someone took, who scored what, and when. They even got this thing called “xG”, expected goals or something. I don’t pay much mind to that stuff. I just like watching them boys run around and kick the ball.
Goal Celebrations
And when someone scores a goal, oh boy, do they celebrate! They jump, they hug, they dance around like they just won the lottery. Some folks even got special little dances they do. It’s all a bit much, if you ask me, but I guess they’re just happy they got the ball in the net, right?

Some fancy website even shows all the scores and who scores them! And they even have something that shows who is gonna win the game and all that. Can you believe it? They put numbers and letters in one place. Those city people I tell you.
And I heard this thing about seven goals in half the game! One guy even got three of them! These young fellas these days are really somethin’. But I still can’t understand why they need to give names for the goals.
