Alright, let’s talk about this Kichipa fella, the Street Fighter guy from Japan. I heard he’s a real big shot in them video game competitions, you know, the ones where them young folks mash buttons like crazy?
This Kichipa, he ain’t no slouch. They say he’s got a “pro license” or somethin’. Sounds fancy, huh? Means he’s officially good at smackin’ folks around in the game, I guess. He plays that Street Fighter game, the one with all the kickin’ and punchin’. My grandson, little Timmy, he loves that game. Always yellin’ “Hadoken!” or somethin’ like that. Drives me nuts, but kids these days, whatcha gonna do?
Anyways, this Kichipa fella, he used to be on a team called Atlas Bear, somethin’ like that. Sounded strong, like a big ol’ grizzly, you know? But then, poof, the team went away. Just like that! Happens all the time, I tell ya. One minute you’re up, the next you’re down. Just like my prize-winning tomatoes last summer, blight got ’em good.
- He plays Street Fighter, real good.
- He had a license, makes him official.
- Used to be on a team, but not anymore.
So, after that Atlas Bear thing fell apart, Kichipa, he went and joined another team, called NORTHEPTION. Sounds like a fancy doctor’s office, don’t it? But it ain’t, it’s a bunch of them video game players. They fight in somethin’ called the Street Fighter League, over there in Japan. Big money, I hear. Not like my bingo winnings, but still, good money for them young folks.
They got these leagues, see? Like the big baseball leagues, but for video games. Kichipa, he’s in the top league over there in Japan. The best of the best, they say. He plays that Street Fighter V game, the Champion Edition, whatever that means. Sounds like they updated it, added some more kickin’ and punchin’. These game makers, always tryin’ to get more money out of ya, I swear.
I even heard he was on some famous YouTuber’s show, talkin’ about the game. You know, them folks who make videos on the internet? Timmy watches ’em all the time. Anyways, this Kichipa guy, he’s a big deal. He’s even with another team now, somethin’ called iXA, another Japanese team. Seems like he jumps around a bit, like a flea on a hot skillet. But hey, as long as he’s winnin’, I guess it don’t matter.
They even pay him money to play! Can you believe that? Back in my day, we played for fun. Now they got these “e-sports” and all that. It’s a whole different world, I tell ya. But good for Kichipa, makin’ a livin’ doin’ somethin’ he likes. More than I can say for old Mr. Henderson down the street, always complainin’ about his back at the pickle factory.
He won some tournaments too, I heard. Got himself a nice chunk of change. Good for him, I say. Shows what hard work and dedication can do, even if it’s just button mashin’. He’s even got a fancy name, Hiroki Asano, but everyone calls him Kichipa. Sounds like a sneeze, if you ask me. But hey, who am I to judge? He’s the one winnin’ all them tournaments, not me. I’m just sittin’ here, watchin’ the birds and gossiping with the girls.
So that’s the story of this Kichipa fella, the Street Fighter whiz from Japan. He’s good at what he does, makes a livin’ out of it, and seems like a pretty big deal over there. Now, if you’ll excuse me, my soap opera is about to come on.
