Alright, so you wanna know about this here Las Vegas Lights vs. LAFC soccer match, huh? Okay, okay, I’ll tell ya what I know. It was one of them U.S. Open Cup games, you know, the one where all sorts of teams play each other, big and small.
This game, it was played on May 8th, or maybe it was the 9th, them city folks with their fancy times, always confusing me. Anyways, it was played in Vegas, at that Cashman Field place. The Lights, that’s the Vegas team, they’re from some league called USL, whatever that means. And then there’s LAFC, Los Angeles Football Club, they’re the big shots from the MLS, Major League Soccer, real fancy.
Now, I didn’t watch the whole thing, mind you, too much runnin’ around for my old eyes. But from what I hear, LAFC, they won. Beat the Lights 3 to 1. Yeah, the Lights put up a fight, scored a goal even, but those LA fellas, they were just too strong.
- The score was 3-1, LAFC winning.
- It was a U.S. Open Cup game, round of 32.
- They played in Las Vegas at Cashman Field.
Heard tell that the Vegas team, they were real excited to play against the big LA team. You know, like when your grandson finally gets to play against the older kids. They put up a good fight, or so they say. But those LA guys, they got them fancy players, probably eat better food and all that.
I saw some pictures, you know, on that face-book thing my grandson set up for me. Them LA players, they looked all slick and shiny, like they just stepped outta a magazine. Our Vegas boys, they looked tough, but maybe a little tired. Guess running around after that ball all day will do that to ya.
The lineups? Well, I ain’t got no fancy list of names for ya. But I figure LAFC, they put out their best players, them fellas who get paid the big bucks. And the Lights, well, they probably put out whoever was runnin’ the fastest that day. That’s how it works in these things, ain’t it? You put your best foot forward and hope for the best.
I heard some folks sayin’ this was a big deal, this game. LAFC bein’ all famous and whatnot. But for me, it’s just a game. Two teams kickin’ a ball around, tryin’ to score more than the other. Same as it ever was, back when my husband was a boy kickin’ rocks in the fields.
Anyways, that’s the gist of it. LAFC won, Vegas lost, but they put up a good fight. And that’s all that matters, right? Tryin’ your best, even when the other fella’s got more money and fancy shoes.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go feed them chickens. They ain’t gonna wait around for no soccer game to finish.
In short, LAFC was just too strong for the Las Vegas Lights. But it sounds like the Lights gave it their all, and that’s something to be proud of. And honestly, all this talk about lineups and scores and such makes my head spin. Give me a good cup of coffee and some peace and quiet any day.
