Well, let me tell ya ’bout them Reds, the Cincinnati Reds, ya know? They play that baseball, the one with the bat and the ball. Folks seem to get all riled up about it, so I figured I’d tell ya what I know.
Now, where do you find out about these Reds? Well, they got this thing called a “websight,” sounds fancy, don’t it? It’s like a magic book that tells ya all sorts of stuff. Scores, when they play, all them numbers they use…stats, they call ’em. You can find it all there, I reckon.
Heard tell they got other ways to keep up too. That ESPN thing, folks watchin’ it on them picture boxes. They show the games, or parts of ’em, and talk about ’em a lot. And then there’s the news, always yappin’ ’bout the Reds. Injuries, who’s playin’ good, who ain’t…it’s a whole lotta fuss, if ya ask me.
Them fellers play hard, I tell ya. Just the other day, I heard about this Benson feller, hit a ball clean outta the park, three fellers scored! That’s what they call a “homer,” sounds like somethin’ from the farm, don’t it? They got all sorts of names for things, makes it hard to keep up sometimes.
- They got this “schedule,” tells ya when they play.
- Then they got them “stats,” all them numbers ’bout how good they are. Batting, pitchin’, all that jazz.
- And they got this “news” where they talk about the players all the time.
Now, if you want to go see ’em play, you gotta get them “tickets.” They cost money, ya know. But sometimes, they have deals. Like on Tuesdays, they sell cheap beer and hot dogs. Folks love that, I tell ya. Beer for three dollars, hot dogs for two…can’t beat that, I reckon.
They even got special seats, fancy ones they call “club seats.” More money, of course, but you get special treatment. Your own door to go in, someone brings ya food and drinks right to your seat…sounds like livin’ the high life, don’t it? They even got them comfy seats, like in them movie theaters.
And speaking of special things, they got this feller named Jackie Robinson. Heard he was a real good player back in the day. Rookie of the year, they say, and the best player one year too. They got a number for him, #42, guess he was somethin’ special.
This year, them tickets, they start at nine dollars. Nine dollars! That ain’t bad, I reckon. Course, them fancy seats cost a whole lot more. But you can see the game, eat a hot dog, maybe have a beer…sounds like a good time, even for an old gal like me.
So, that’s the Reds for ya. They play ball, folks get excited, and it all seems like a big to-do. But hey, it gives folks somethin’ to talk about, right? And that ain’t such a bad thing, I reckon.
They got all sorts of teams they play against, too. Them Cubs from Chicago, the Brewers from Milwaukee, the Pirates from Pittsburgh, and them Cardinals from St. Louis. Sounds like a whole lotta travelin’ to me.
And they got these divisions too, like the NL West, with them Diamondbacks from Arizona. It’s all a bit confusin’ if ya ask me, but folks seem to understand it, so I guess it’s alright.
So, if you’re lookin’ for somethin’ to do, maybe go see the Reds play. Or just keep up with ’em on that “websight” or the TV. Either way, you’ll know what’s goin’ on with them fellers and their baseball game.
